So, I told you I was going to take a journalism course, well I changed my mind and enrolled on the MA Literature and Digital Culture course, I just didn’t want to stop studying English! Six months down the line I realised I had chosen the wrong path. The course was brilliant but just wasn’t right for me. I think a Creative Writing course would have been better unfortunately the fees were too high at both Sheffield and Manchester University.
I have joined a poetry group, Read2Write, who meet once a week in a local library. I have learnt so much about writing and understanding poetry, but there is so much more to learn. I have taken part in events: Open Mic – writing and reading my own poetry, great for building up confidence and getting experience. Recently I was asked to read several of C P Canafy’s poems in Greek at an event and I thoroughly enjoyed that experience and hope to do it again in the future.
I have written 12 short stories, I have found I have a passion for short fiction. It’s a wonderful way to write because you can leave the ending open for readers to ponder on. You can really use your imagination on weird stories and take a journey down a strange path. The hard part is getting published. So, I’m trawling through literary magazines online and starting to submit, wish me luck, validation would be so satisfying!
Oh yes, the sequel to Valiant Tails, its still in the background, I keep writing every now and then, it will get finished I promise.
I’ll let you know how I get on with the submissions!
